Top/Down construction allowed the steel superstructure to be built as the below grade levels were excavated. Crews sand caissons into the bedrom and then drove steel support columns into the caissons; the columns formed the outline on which the steel superstructure was built. Simultaneously, sand, clay and fill were excavated as workers built a five-level, below grade parking garage.
